Google Newspaper Searches

Google has digitized a large number of old newspapers. You can access them at http://news.google.com/newspapers. You can then do a Google search through their newspapers. It is a great way to find obituaries if the family lived in the same area as the newspaper.

Welcome to "Tugging The Threads".

I enjoy searching for my ancestors and their extended family. I love the feeling I get when I find some nugget about the lives of my family and the times in which they live. To me, searching for an ancestor is like finding a loose thread and then tugging on that thread until I know more. I'll never know everything about them, but every time I tug on them I get a little closer.

The purpose of this Blog is to list some of my favorite search sites and methods to find them. I hope that you, the reader, may be able to use some of these tools to tug on your own threads and get closer to those who have come before.
